MISSION: Our mission aligns us to WHAT we are supposed to do. In essence, if we only do ONE thing to have the greatest impact for Jesus, or missions is to:
Reach the world, one person at a time, as we learn to THINK, LOVE, and LIVE like Jesus (…and reproduce that in others)
“THINK, LOVE, LIVE LIKE JESUS”
VALUES: Our values shape and guide our ministry activity. These values describe the culture that we will strive to create in and through Mountainview Christian Church.
We value BIBLICAL TRUTH, because we believe God’s Word is His special revelation to us and our authority in life and faith. So, we will unapologetically teach and align all that we do with the unchanging, timeless truth of God’s Word, in ways that connects and speak into our ever-changing culture and equips people to THINK, LOVE, and LIVE like Jesus.
We value AUTHENTIC COMMUNITY, because we believe we are not meant to do life alone. So, we invite and purse 100% involvement in life groups and studies where we create intentional, life-on-life connection—where masks can be taken off and people are safe to be real, be cared for and to care for others, and be pointed to greater life in Jesus. We see this as the best and primary way for people to find connection and be discipled in the church gathering.
We value STEWARDSHIP, because we believe we are responsible with what God has entrusted to us. So, we will intentionally invest with integrity, transparency, and radical generosity—the resources of our time, gifts and abilities, and our finances—into the eternal Kingdom of God.
We value MISSIONAL LIVING, because we believe God has given all of us one mission as followers of Jesus—to go and make disciples (those who think, love and live like Jesus) here and across the world. So, we will equip every person to be a missionary, representing Him and His values, right where God has them. We commit to verbally sharing the good news of Jesus, striving to connect those who don’t know Him and His truths in ways that they can understand. We commit to and building up the church both locally and globally—through intentional global partners and local opportunities to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
We value LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT, because we believe God has called all of us to have influence and build up others in the various speres of our life. So we will seek to live out ministry as a team—never going alone—but intentionally inviting others into development relationships. We invite and pursue a culture of feedback, collaboration, and accountability so that we can grow together, sharing in the call of God on our lives.
We value PRAYER, because we believe that our God is relational, He cares and guides, we can do nothing apart from Him, and in Jesus, we have direct access to Him. So we will intentionally bathe all we do in prayer—seeking wisdom and empowerment—as well as time for connection and quietness, to listen and be directed.
We value FAMILY, because the Church is the family of God, and marriage and family are foundation of society and the unique picture of Jesus and the Church in our world. So we will actively connect the unconnected into the Family of God, and intentionally build up and equip the nuclear family—strengthening marriages and families to be healthy and thrive, being the primary source of family discipleship.
We value EXCELLENCE, because He gave us His best. So we will strive to give God our best in all we do. We will strive for intentionality, effort, and heart over perfection—so that we can be our best and give our best so that God can use our efforts and plans as He wills—knowing the God ultimately brings the fruit of life change.
2030 VISION:
As we live out our mission and shared core-values, we see a church that is welcoming and messy—to people of all generations and backgrounds, where people can explore, connect, and grow in a faith and life in Jesus—where children fill the foyer with laughter and people connect through conversations and prayer. We see a church that unapologetically teaches and aligns itself with the timeless truth of Scripture—meeting people wherever they are at—and actively equipping them to THINK, LOVE, and LIVE like Jesus. This will be a church filled with new believer classes, equipping marriages, parenting, and instructing on Biblical finances—and so much more. We see a church where authentic community is lived out in 100% participation in life groups—where real, life-on-life ministry, care, study, and discipleship take place.
This means we are a church that pursues health, built on the healthy structures and roles in Scripture—where we tear down the pedestals of position—and will be a church where everyone takes on their part—knowing their identity and value in Christ and live out their unique gifting and skills for the Kingdom of God. Where the young take vital roles of leadership, parents confidently discipling their children and engaging in family ministry and service opportunities, and the different generations connecting and pouring into one another. By living this—we see a church that has 100% of our graduating students equipped to continue a life in faith through college, where the divorce rate and suicide rates are reduced by 20% in our community through the ministries of Mountainview.
We see a church that impacts our South Denver in real and tangible ways—working with like-minded local churches to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community. We see a church where our community knows us to meet and care for them in their darkest of seasons and greatest needs. We actively connect the unconnected and see the unseen. For us to have this kind of impact, all of our people will know and live that the church is not the building, but all people saved through faith in Jesus—and each person seeing themselves as a missionary, on mission, representing and sharing Jesus—right where God has placed them—dependent on the Holy Spirit for opportunities and the words to connect people to the hope and truth of Jesus. We see a church that shares the gospel with over 2000 people in the next five years coming from the mouths of those at Mountainview, and pray for hundreds of people to come to faith in Jesus and celebrate their public baptism. We see a church where the seeker finds answers, the broken find wholeness, the weary find refuge, and each person experiences the abundant, powerful, and victorious life in Jesus.
We see a church that impacts our world through strategic global partnerships in five of the seven continents around the world. We see our partners being a part of our church family—being supported through greater prayer, love, encouragement, team-sending, and finances. We see a church where 50% of those in our community engage in local or global missions over the next five years—as we equip, build up, and encourage the global Church.
We see a church that steps into radical generosity—stewarding and giving God their best—through our time, focus, service, and finances—in response to the radical generosity that He lavishes on us. This generosity is not just seen toward the church—but flows from the church—into our community and our missions partners around the world. In the next five years, we see a church that is actively pursuing a plan to become 100% debt free, stewarding the resources of our building, finances, and most importantly our people with integrity and transparency—all for glory and fame of our God.
