Venezuela Earthquake Victim Fund

June 24th a 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit just west of Caracas, Venezuela...
...38 seconds later, a 7.5 magnitude earthquake hit the same area, devastating the area and changing people's lives forever. As of July 14th, just under 17,000 were injured from the earthquakes, 4500 people have been confirmed dead, 50,000 are suspected missing, and 18,000 people are homeless. One week ago, Mountainview Christian Church connected with Pastor Samuel of Iglesia Las Acacias, who are being the hands and feet of Jesus in Caracas, Venezuela, and partnering up with other Christian, non-profit organizations to care for the victims of the earthquakes. Pastor Samuel shared with us that they have a resource room where they are giving away supplies, food, clothing, and more to those in need, providing transportation to doctors and hospitals, and partnering with other ministries to care for the homeless and orphans from the earthquakes.
Our Opportuntity:
PRAY: When asked what they need, Pastor Samuel said, "First and most important, please pray!" So, we are asking our church family to commit to praying for the people of Venezuela and the victims of this earthquake...for those facing devastating loss...and for Jesus to be made known through this. Please pray for the church to be resourced and care for those who are hurting and to open doors for the gospel. Our first commitment needs to be prayer.
DONATIONS: Mountainview is committed to being a resource for Iglesia Las Acacias and replenishing their resource room to give away to those in need. Bring your donations to the Mountainview lobby. We will be collecting the following items at Mountainview:
FINANCIAL GIVING: On Sundays, July 19th and July 26th, we will be taking a special offering designated for the earthquake victims in Venezuela. Part of this designated fund will go to the shipping of the donated items. The rest of the donations will be sent directly to Iglesia Las Acacias to distribute and care for those in need. You can participate in this special offering in person on one of these Sundays through the envelopes in the seatbacks of our Gathering Room, or through our online giving platform, and designate your giving to the special Venezuela Fund.
